Grievance & nonretaliation policy

A concern must be heard by someone who is not the subject of it.

P.R.I.M.E. accepts oral, written, accessible, staff-assisted, and limited online grievances. A grievance is separated from ordinary case notes and may be submitted without retaliation or interruption of services.

01

Conflict-free intake

The person complained about may not view, assign, suppress, investigate, or close the grievance. The system records the conflict and rejects access by the excluded account.

02

Review process

The authorized reviewer logs and acknowledges the concern, assesses safety and retaliation, applies interim protections, reviews only information within P.R.I.M.E.'s authority, records an outcome, and provides the next internal or external option.

03

Accessibility and assistance

P.R.I.M.E. will accept a grievance through an effective communication method and provide reasonable assistance, language support, or a paper alternative. A participant does not have to confront the person complained about.

04

Appeal and external rights

An internal grievance does not limit a person's right to contact a funder, regulator, civil-rights agency, protective agency, law enforcement, court, facility authority, or another external body with jurisdiction.
